This town is in the midst of international happenings: the World Urban Forum gathered city planners, visionaries, performers, partiers... That festival was immediately followed by the World Peace Forum which is on now and will continue into next week. I love seeing the city full of visitors. Brenna Maag & I wandered around the town to see some of the art happenings: on campus we stumbled on an Arabic prayer vigil and native drummers, downtown we took in the Yoko Ono show and Lenore Herb's activist work at the Helen Pitt Gallery (see: http://www3.telus.net/spirituslocii/ ). Tomorrow I might take in a lecture on protest art. Welcome to all of the guests!
The mail art exhibit, CULTURE: MAIL - PEACE - ART, is now installed and open for viewing in the 'Peace Cafe' on the main floor of the Gage Buildings at UBC. Delegates have been taking time to take close looks at the artworks and to make a few postcards of their own.
On Tuesday evening (7pm), local participants will be at the exhibit to meet and pick up copies of their documentation packages. Everyone is invited to come out and see the show!
I have posted an album of photos of the exhibit on this site (left side bar).
